Valenzuela City's Local Economic and Investment Promotions Office (LEIPO), in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), awards gift checks to 55 micro-entrepreneurs last December 9 at the Valenzuela City Hall to help them recover from the effects of the pandemic on their businesses.

During the pandemic, several businesses were forced to close and mass layoffs occurred. The most affected in the business sector are the micro-entrepreneurs or also called self-employed persons, including shop owners, household businesses, and street vendors, who heavily rely on their micro-businesses.

With huge changes in the deliverables following health safety precautions and protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses slowly became vulnerable to meet their profits.

The City Government of Valenzuela, being sensitive to the needs of micro-entrepreneurs, is now in strong coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in granting 55 beneficiaries for the Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PBG) program, a livelihood assistance program that aims to assist affected persons of the pandemic.

Beneficiaries receive gift checks worth PhP 8,000 each to assist them in their needs. LEIPO will also continuously help them through training and seminars for their business planning and development.

With this cash assistance, they can start anew and rebrand their product suitable for the pandemic.

In a time where the future is at stake for micro-businesses, Valenzuela City will be behind micro-entrepreneurs to help them bounce back from their loss. More programs and activities will be conducted to help them overcome the pandemic.

For more questions, you may contact LEIPO on their telephone number 8352-1000 local 1806.
