With the assistance of the Local Economic and Investment Promotion Office (LEIPO), women in Disiplina Village Ugong and Barangay Gen. T. de Leon finds a way to help their families through "Scrap to Crafts", a livelihood program empowering women through entrepreneurship by producing beautiful crafts from organic composts, displayed at the “Women At Work” caravan in SM City Valenzuela from March 7 to 31, 2021.

Valenzuela City continues to empower women with a sustainable livelihood in the City. LEIPO initiates to consult companies to find waste materials that they can freely give to support the City’s livelihood initiatives to also help its constituents.

Nation Paper Products and Printing Corporation (NAPPCO), a Valenzuela City-based company and one of the major players in the paper business in the country, lends their used organic waste to CSG - Hubog Organic Waste Compost Production, a livelihood group composed of women from Disiplina Village Ugong and Barangay Gen. T. De Leon.

Out of waste, women in CSG - Hubog Organic Waste Compost Production showcase their great craftsmanship through creating crafts, furniture, and displays that they may find marketable and useful. Some products include lampshades, tissue holder, pen and book holder, wall clock, pot insulator, candle holder, round flower centerpiece, hoop topper centerpiece, tabletop/fruits and veggies storage, plant stand, and succulent pots.

SM City Valenzuela, in coordination with LEIPO, invited the livelihood group to feature their products in celebration of the Women’s Month this March. SM waved the rental fee of the booths at the “Women At Work” caravan and just imposed a payment of 5% of the gross income of the booths from March 7 to 31 to also help CSG in their business.

Believing in supporting MSMEs and small livelihood groups in the City, the City Government of Valenzuela gives financial assistance for the equipment and initial expenses of CSG. The barangay also helped in transporting the materials from the companies to production.

In this time of pandemic and the number of unemployed individuals continue to rise in the country, this livelihood program will not only help women financially but also empower them through their creative skills – proving that hope remains and the spirit of “bayanihan” is very much alive with the strong vision of the private and public sector to work hand-in-hand.

Uplift and support the mighty women of CSG in Valenzuela City by supporting their initiatives and promoting their products. Visit the “Scrap to Crafts” booth at SM City Valenzuela until March 31 or check their Facebook page, CSG - Hubog Organic Waste Compost Production. To order directly, contact +63 995 023 0907.
