Valenzuelanos under the A3 priority group or persons with comorbidities are now on their way to be a #BakunadongValenzuelano as the local government begins administering the COVID-19 vaccine to the first batch of residents with comorbidities from April 10 to 16, 2021, across the different vaccination sites in the City.

596 residents with comorbidities receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the four (4) vaccination sites in Valenzuela City today namely, Pio Valenzuela Elementary School, Polo National High School, Valenzuela City Astrodome, and Tugatog Elementary School.

As of its March 31 cut-off date, Valenzuela City expects to have 3,878 residents with comorbidities vaccinated for the first batch from April 10 to 16. With persons with comorbidities (A3) under the third priority group to be vaccinated as prescribed by the DOH, the City slated the A3 priority group to be next for the vaccination rollout with Sinovac as the available vaccine to be followed by senior citizens (A2).

The Department of Health (DOH) has listed persons with comorbidities (A3) as those from 18 to 59 years old with chronic respiratory disease, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, malignancy, diabetes mellitus, obesity, and chronic kidney disease.

To be eligible to receive the vaccine, those under the A3 priority group should have the following documents prepared: medical certificate for the past 18 months issued by the attending physician, prescriptions for the past six (6) months, hospital records like discharge summary or medical abstract, surgical record, and pathology report.

Different from the other cities, Valenzuela City conducted a door-to-door delivery of the vaccination appointment letters to VCVax registrants with comorbidities from April 05 to 09. The City also does not accommodate “walk-ins” at the vaccination sites to ensure that health standards, physical distancing, and venue capacity will be strictly implemented.   

Senior citizens (A2) are now next to receive the COVID-19 vaccine from April 17 to 22 for the first batch following the announcement of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that they, too, can be administered with Sinovac which was then not recommended for senior citizens. Valenzuela City will administer AstraZeneca for the first 850 registrants and Sinovac for the City’s senior citizens.   

The City Government of Valenzuela commits that the VCVax COVD-19 Vaccines Rollout Plan will continue its implementation as the road to a safe and secured Valenzuela City is now underway. As Valenzuela City sees an increase in the number of active COVID-19 cases, now with 1,149 cases as of April 09, COVID-19 vaccination remains a key to herd immunity and a key to end the pandemic with combined and strengthen efforts of not only the local government, but also its residents.
