Nearly 600 Valenzuelano solo parents sign a contract as the latest beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), at Valenzuela City Amphitheater, August 25.

With the help of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in coordination with the Valenzuela City Public Employment Services Office (PESO), the City Government of Valenzuela has able to deliver assistance for the recovery of nearly 600 Valenzuelano solo parents as beneficiaries of TUPAD.

TUPAD aims to provide temporary employment or "emergency employment" to displaced workers, unemployed, and underemployed workers whose income has been greatly affected by the pandemic.

Beneficiaries will spend at least ten days working through social community projects such as cleaning streets, schools, health centers, clogging canals, tree-planting, and contract tracing, among others.

Valenzuelano solo parents underwent orientation and contract signing and eventually received their TUPAD ID. The salary is equivalent to the minimum wage in the National Capital Region (NCR), or Php 5,700 for a ten-day work. Beneficiaries are scheduled to work from August 27 to September 5, from 8:00 am to 12: 00 nn.

DOLE worker in an orientation announced that the TUPAD recipients will receive their salary through money remittance Palawan Express after complying with DOLE’s requirements such as DTR o Daily Time Record, and photo documentation as proof of attendance.

City Mayor WES Gatchalian in his message reiterated that in his administration, solo parents are important. He said, “Huwag po kayo mag-alala, sa aking administrasyon priority ang mga solo parents. Ako po ay isang magulang din at damang dama ko ang kalagayan ng ating mga libo-libong solo parents na nagpupursige sa kanilang buhay.” (Don't worry, solo parents are priority in my administration. I am also a parent and I feel the plight of our thousands of solo parents who persevere in their lives.)

Mayor WES also added that the Solo Parent Office has ongoing registration for Valenzuelano solo parents.

In the latest record, Valenzuela City has more than 5,000 registered solo parents.
