The Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) of the Department of Finance recognized Valenzuela City once again for its tax collection efficiency ranking for Fiscal Year 2021 during the BLGF’s 35th Anniversary celebration held at the Philippine International Center (PICC), October 6.

Valenzuela City ranked 2nd in Performance Area (PA) Nos. 2 — Collection Efficiency of Locally Sourced Revenues, and 3 — Year-on-Year (YoY) Growth in Locally Sourced Revenues. Simultaneously, Valenzuela City ranked 10th in PA No. 1 — Highest Locally Sourced Revenues.

The data were based on the Q4 FY 2021 Statement of Receipts and Expenditures (SRE) reports submitted by Local Treasurers, as of 31 March 2022, pursuant to BLGF MC No. 08-2015 dated 21 April 2015, and the evaluation thereof and subsequent processing was made by this Bureau’s Local Financial Data Analysis Division (LFDAD).

City Mayor WES Gatchalian received the awards together with Ms. Adelia E. Soriano, City Treasurer and Atty. Cecilynne R. Andrade-Aboganda, City Assessor. Ms. Soriano shared her enthusiasm about the recognition, “Sama-samang efforts naman (ito) ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela. Tulong-tulong ang mga tao, tayo, sa pagkamit nitong mga awards kaya nakakatuwang patuloy (ang) pag-recognize sa atin (ng BLGF).” [This is a unified effort of the people in Valenzuela City, we helped each other in earning these awards, so we are glad that we are constantly recognized by BLGF.]

The Certificates of Recognition are given to concerned LGUs, including the awardees of the Local Revenue Generation Hall of Fame — an addition to the regular performance awards in accordance with the directives of the Secretary of Finance, the Bureau hereby launched this special category for LGUs that excellently attained exemplary performance in local revenue collection in the past three (3) consecutive years in each performance area.

Valenzuela City’s collection efficiency is evident in the past years, continuously pursuing to drive its LGU towards greater revenue generation and sustainable economic growth. This can be further traced back from Cong. REX’s administration, point onward, Valenzuelanos are influential in paying the taxes right, in return they witness the City’s improvement and good governance throughout history.

1st District Representative, Congressman REX Gatchalian expressed his ecstatic message on a social media post last August 22, “Another achievement from my last year as Mayor. We couldn't have done it without the help of our Valenzuelano taxpayers! Congratulations to us and again, maraming salamat sa ating Valenzuelano taxpayers! Sa pagkakaisa, tuloy ang progreso!” [thank you to all our Valenzuelano taxpayers. In unity, the progress continues!]

In honor of the loyal taxpayers, City Mayor WES Gatchalian is establishing a new state-of-the-art Finance Center Building which features more convenient and modern facilities. This is just one of the numerous developments and reforms for Valenzuelanos to anticipate. For he also promised to his town people that on his first 100 days, he will offer better and greater service, “Sana maging pinakamaganda po (itong) government building sa buong Metro Manila. Ang inspirasyon ko po (rito) ay ang 13,000 nating City Hall employees na kasama ko sa paglilingkod, ang ating valuable taxpayers, at ang mga Valenzuelano na kasama nating patuloy na naghahangad ng tuloy-tuloy na progreso sa ating Lungsod.” [I hope this will be the most efficient government building in Metro Manila. My inspiration here is our 13,000 City Hall employees who serves with me, our valuable taxpayers, and the Valenzuelanos who continuously yearning for never-ending progress of our City.]
