Valenzuela City Mayor WES Gatchalian spearheaded the blessing and inauguration of the new Lawang Bato Elementary School Multi-Purpose Building located at Centro Street, Barangay Lawang Bato, Valenzuela City on November 7.

The construction of the new Lawang Bato Elementary School is part of Mayor WES’ initiative to provide a more comfortable venue and services for the people of Barangay Lawang Bato when he was still on his last term of being the first district representative of Valenzuela City. The said multi-purpose hall was allocated a budget of Php 7,759,569.46 from the General Appropriation Fund of fiscal year 2022.

The new Lawang Bato Elementary School Multi-Purpose Building stands inside the compound of the Lawang Bato Elementary School and serves as a new and additional facility which aims to serve and cater different events for the people and students of Barangay Lawang Bato. The building measures 464 square meters and houses several facilities like a basketball court, main stage, and bleachers. It can also accommodate approximately 400 seats. A new set of sound system was also provided for the new multi-purpose building.

In his message, Mayor WES proudly presented the new multi-purpose hall by saying “Kamakailan lamang po ay naimbitahan po tayong umattend ng graduation, at nakita po natin na ang mga pasilidad ay dilapidated na, kinakailangan pa po nating magtayo ng mga toda sa mga gilid kaya’t awang awa po ako sa ating mga magulang at mag-aaral na nabibilad sa arawan o kaya naman ay nauulanan. Kaya po ngayon ay iniaalay ko sa inyo ang pasilidad na ito para po magamit ninyo sa mga susunod pang programa at mga aktibidad.” [Recently, I was invited to attend a graduation, and I saw that our facilities are already dilapidated wherein we still need to build makeshift roofs on the side, that is when I realized the sufferings our parents and students experience under the sunlight or rainfall, that is why I am offering this new facility for you to use in future programs and activities]. He also mentioned his continuous plans of providing better facilities and equipment for the education sector of the city.

Valenzuela Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Meliton Zurbano then expressed his gratitude, saying “Maraming salamat po sa city government sa pagpapadali ng mga trabaho namin dahil sa mga pasilidad katulad nito. Sa maraming paraan po namin mapapakinabangan ang multi-purpose building na ito, unang-una sa edukasyon, pangalawa sa sports, sa meeting, assemblies at marami pang iba, kaya’t sana ay pangalagaan at gamitin ito ng maayos ng mga mag-aaral at guro upang mapakinabangan nang mahabang panahon.” [My sincerest gratitude to the city government for easing our workloads because of these kinds of facilities. We will be able to use this multi-purpose building for several things, firstly, for education, secondly, for sports, meetings, assemblies and many others. I hope that this facility will be used with care, so that it will be beneficial for a long time.]

Joining Mayor WES during the inauguration were Valenzuela Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Meliton Zurbano, Lawang Bato Elementary School Principal Mr. Emil Mamiit, Lawang Bato Punong Lungsod Romeo Acuña, and other city and barangay officials.

The blessing of the new Lawang Bato Elementary School Multi-Purpose Building was officiated by Rev. Fr. Lily Lorona.
