Keeping the commitment in providing the best service for its constituents, 1st District Representative, Cong. REX Gatchalian spearheaded the distribution of the medical and burial assistance to the Valenzuelanos under the provision of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Assistance to Individuals/Families in Crisis Situation (AICS), at the Valenzuela City Auditorium, November 11. There were about 300 people who received medical assistance and 50 individuals were given burial assistance by the local government. The medical and burial cash assistance that was given to the beneficiaries will serve as their fueling support in paying for medical bills, purchase of medicines, and burial expenses.

DSWD has been an efficient and effective support system of the Valenzuela City Government in ensuring the well-being of its constituents. Following the DSWD’s Memorandum Circular No. 02, Series of 2014, the AICS program is just part of their broad programs that deal in their protective services for the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable/disadvantaged individuals. Moreover, they keep developing programs aiming to protect the common people from mishaps and provide them a good quality of life.

Jennie Junio, 36, one of the recipients of the medical assistance and a visually impaired individual, came to the distribution site to claim her cash support. She received a PhP 3,000 medical aide, allotted for her eye treatment since she has an eye problem called astigmatism and she is having a hard time fulfilling her responsibilities at work as a teller in a lottery.

“Kumuha po ako ng financial assistance para sa mata ko. Kasi po mataas po ‘yung grado ng mata ko, nasa 2000 plus po ang grado ng mata ko. Hindi na po kasi kaya ng salamin ang kundisyon ng mata ko,” She stated. [I got financial assistance for my eye condition. Because my eye grade is high, my eye grade ranges up to 2000 plus and that my eye condition can't be handled by the glasses anymore]

As the Valenzuela City promotes inclusivity, various financial assistance programs are being carried out to reach every corners of the city that serve as helping hand to its constituents. In line with this, Cong. REX carry on with his medical missions every week across the whole city.
