REX Gatchalian assisted them via Twitter with the new route that they asked, retaining the present route VGC - SM North and adding VGC - Cubao. Valenzuela City Mayor WES Gatchalian addressed the public and officially issued a statement regarding commuters' complaints against the new modified route proposed by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) at the Valenzuela Gateway Complex Terminal, February 2.

The issue erupted after affected commuters complained about the posted new route of passenger buses at the VGC terminal called Route #51. Route #51 will travel along Congressional Avenue from VGC Terminal to Cubao and back. The big difference between the original and current Route #32 is that buses go from VGC Terminal to SM North.

Mayor WES dismissed the complaints because he said that LTFRB and public bus operators have yet to consult the city government of Valenzuela regarding the route change proposal.

In his media appearance today, Mayor WES answered the grievances and decided to temporarily put the said route in the status quo. In the meantime, route #32 will remain operational until the meeting between the local government of Valenzuela and the LTFRB has been held to decide on the appropriate solutions for commuters.

“Para ho hindi mahirapan ang ating mga kababayan, lalong-lalo na ang araw-araw na nagco-commute at nagtatrabaho patungong Quezon City, Monumento, at Commonwealth, na bumababa po sa SM North, ay pansamantala po natin munang hindi susundin ang tinatawag nating route 51,” he stated. [So that our fellow citizen will not suffer anymore, especially those who commute and work every day to Quezon City, Monumento, and Commonwealth, who get off at SM North, for the time being, we will not follow our so-called route 51]

As of writing, the City Government of Valenzuela expects that the LTFRB will head to their office to meet and discuss the setup of the said route. Mayor WES has yet to converse with the involved agencies on providing a convenient and trouble-free commuting experience while addressing the public’s complaints.
