In pursuit of creating a more liveable city for the Pamilyang Valenzuelano, the City Government of Valenzuela under the leadership of Mayor WES Gatchalian groundbreaks several Proyektong Kakaiba, namely the New Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital (VCEH) - Multi-level Parking Building, New Annex Building, Rehabilitation of the Main Building located in Barangay Dalandanan, and the New and Improved Valenzuela City Central Kitchen in Barangay Malinta, June 5, 2023.

Opened in December of 2012, the Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital located in G. Lazaro Street, Barangay Dalandanan, has served the citizenry of Valenzuela for the past 11 years. Now, with the ever-growing demands for health facilities in the city, the city government has initiated the rehabilitation of the VCEH main building, with a budget of more than PhP 70,000,000, the project aims to improve and create more state-of-the-art facilities for the hospital such as its emergency complex, laboratories, delivery complex, and isolation wards among others.

A new annex building for the emergency hospital is also set to be built in the same complex, with a budget of more than PhP 53,000,000, the new 3-storey annex building will be built on 755 square meters of land within the vicinity of the emergency hospital. It will be equipped with new facilities such as medical records room, cashier’s room, breastfeeding room, Malasakit Center, PhilHealth Office, medical social service office which will cater mostly to the out-patient department of the hospital. A new 37-slot multi-level parking building will also be built within the complex to accommodate more cars.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the New and Improved Valenzuela City Central Kitchen in Bukid, Barangay Malinta was also held the same day. Opened in October of 2012, the old Valenzuela City Central Kitchen in Sitio Balubaran, Barangay Malinta was opened through the initiative of former Mayor, now Senator WIN Gatchalian, in partnership with the Ateneo Center for Education Development (ACED) and Schools Division Office - Valenzuela to serve as a preparation area for the food distributed to the beneficiaries of the In-School Feeding Program of the city government. Through the years, it has served more than 70,000 beneficiaries. With the relaunch of the In-School Feeding Program from its hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a new and improved Central Kitchen is set to serve more beneficiaries in the future. Budgeted with PhP 40,000,000, the 2-storey building will stand on a 1,315 square meters lot and will be equipped with new and improved facilities such as cold storage, dry storage, general supplies storage, loading bay, 6-slot parking area, generator room, pump room, LPG room, temporary waste holding area, food preparation room, main kitchen, packaging room, and staging area among others.

[If you are asking why building this is very important, there are 70,000 reasons why, because since we opened the Central Kitchen in 2012, we were able to feed more than 70,000 beneficiaries. That is why we are dedicating this day to our more than 1,000 kitchen volunteers, because without them, we will not be able to provide the food we need for the beneficiaries. We are sending our gratitude to the Ateneo Center for Educational Development because they are the one who helped us to become famous and successful with this program. I believe that this program is very important to every Pamilyang Valenzuelano.]

Also present during the event were Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja, ACED Director Dr. Carmela Oracion, Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Alejandro Ibañez, City Health Officer Dr. Marthony Basco, City Councilors Marlon Alejandrino, Ricar Enriquez, Ghogho Deato Lee, Cris Feliciano, Chiqui Carreon, Niña Lopez, Atty. Bimbo Dela Cruz, Louie Nolasco, Gerald Galang, Mickey Pineda, Ramon Encarnacion, Sel Sabino-Sy, Liga ng mga Barangay President Councilor Jonjon Bartolome, SK Federation President Councilor Goyong Serrano, Malinta Punong Barangay Jepoy Abiera and Council, Dalandanan Punong Barangay Benny Encarnacion and Council, Mayoress Tiffany Gatchalian, and all the Central Kitchen volunteers
