Keeping the city’s commitment to provide more learning spaces to Valenzuelano students where they can study with all ease and convenience, the City Government of Valenzuela, led by Mayor WES Gatchalian, inaugurates the Pio Carreon Elementary School, which coincides with the city’s first day of classes on August 5.
The newly opened school has a total lot area of 2,788 square meters, costing about PhP 12 million. The project includes the site development, two 4-story buildings, a play area, a flagpole, entrance gates, and a covered court. This marks the 43rd primary school in the city and an additional academic space for students residing at Brgy. Mapulang Lupa—a solution to the overcrowding of classrooms due to the growing number of students.
In conjunction with the official opening of the newly built school buildings is the relaunching of the city’s mobile medical, dental, and pharmacy clinics, dubbed Eskwelasugan Caravan. The said mobile clinics will move around across the city weekly to provide free medical and dental services to students in public schools. Each vehicle has an assigned doctor and dentist to provide free health and dental check-ups. Furthermore, some students may also receive free medicines and vitamins from the mobile pharmacy parked on their school grounds. It will remain for a couple of days per school to cater to all the students.
Mayor WES, on the other hand, shared the purpose of continuously establishing such additional structures in the city, “Ito pong area natin sa [Brgy.] Mapulang Lupa, katabi ng Purok Kwatro, ito po ay mga densely populated community. So, hindi na po enough ‘yung mga paaralan natin doon sa Mapulang Lupa main at gumawa na tayo ng panibagong structure... At very timely po na natapos natin ang phase 1 [ngayon], kaya po gagamitin na itong brand-new facility ng mga estudyanteng nag-aaral,” he said. [This area in Brgy. Mapulang Lupa, next to Purok Kwatro, are densely populated communities. Since our schools in Mapulang Lupa are no longer enough, we have built a new structure... Good thing that we finished phase 1 very timely, so the students can use this brand-new facility immediately.
The Valenzuela City Government wishes to institute more school facilities in the future to provide students with convenience and comfort in their studies.
Also gracing the event were Vice Mayor Lorie Natividad-Borja, Councilor Chiqui Carreon, Councilor Niña Lopez, Councilor Gerald Galang, Pio Carreon Elementary students and faculty, SPTA officers, HOA officers, and Brgy. Mapulang Lupa Chairman Mark Santiago and Council.
