The recent fight of the Pound for Pound King and People’s Champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao did not disappoint his countrymen, as he gave all his best, while Mosley fought like a “palooka”, more so, in the eyes of the Valenzuelanos.

From barangay courts to cinemas, hotels, restaurants, and even the comfort of homes through pay-per-view, boxing fans all over the country had a variety of options to choose where to watch the much-anticipated Welterweight Title bout between the Pambansang Kamao and “Sugar” Shane Mosley.  In Valenzuela City, Valenzuelanos had the choice to watch the live satellite broadcast of the fight at the Valenzuela City Astrodome in Barangay Dalandanan and the Our Lady of Lourdes College Gymnasium in Gen. T. De Leon for free.

More than 3,000 Valenzuelano boxing enthusiasts flocked to the Valenzuela City Astrodome as early as 7 in the morning to witness the fight on big screen, while around 2,000 residents filled the Our Lady of Lourdes College Gymnasium

An explosion of cheering break inside the two venues each time Pacquiao’s punches connect and impact on Mosley while sighs of disappointment echo when Mosley tries to pull his dirty tactics.

City Mayor Sherwin T. Gatchalian joined the crowd at the Valenzuela City Astrodome while 1st District Representative Congressman REX Gatchalian and Vice Mayor Eric M. Martinez mingled in with the populace at Our Lady of Lourdes College Gymnasium.

This is the second time that the City Government sponsored two venues for free live screening of the Pacquiao fight.  On his next fight scheduled in November, the city government is planning to have six venues to accommodate more audience.  “The constituency would not have to travel much, we will bring the fight closer to where they are,” Mayor WIN said.

Also joining the constituency are Districy 1 Councilors Cora Cortez, Tony Espiritu, Joel Angeles and Marlon Alejandrino at the Valenzuela City Astrodome, while District 2 Councilors Lai Nolasco and Lorie Natividad-Borja at the Our Lady of Lourdes College Gymnasium.
