A lifeless baby was found in a garbage dump, in front of a convenience store near Kabesang Porong Street, Brgy. Punturin Valenzuela. The body of the dead baby was discovered by a witness named Alexander Briones, 18, a resident of Barangay. Punturin, around ten o'clock in the evening, July 18, 2024.

According to Briones, he was sorting the pile of garbage to look for things that can be sold and made money from when he found a green plastic bag, and when he opened it, he was shocked to see the lifeless baby, umbilical cord still attached and its placenta.

Briones immediately reported the incident to the authorities in Brgy. Punturin, while it was relayed by its officials at police substation 7, and was referred to the Station Investigation Unit.

When the authorities were alerted to the incident, a tracking team was formed right away to track down the suspect who threw the baby in the dump. Valenzuela City Mayor WES Gatchalian then ordered the authorities to conduct follow-up operations to speed up the tracing of the whereabouts of the suspect.

The City Government and the Valenzuela Police Station have worked hand in hand to further investigate the incident. The investigation team conducted backtracking of the CCTV footage near the crime scene, where they saw and followed the suspect's tracks, and they were able to easily identify.

From the obtained CCTV footage, a woman was seen carrying a green plastic bag, the same as the plastic bag found in the garbage where the baby was, while heading to the street where the said body was found. Upon checking, Barangay Punturin watchmen managed to recognize the suspect who threw a green plastic bag containing a dead male fetus.

The group quickly tracked down the whereabouts of the suspect, identified as Daizy, 31, a factory worker and resident of Barangay Punturin. The suspect was not around in their residence and  according to her relatives, she will be attending a court hearing at the MTC of Valenzuela City.

Wasting no more time, the authorities immediately went to the MTC and waited for Daizy to come out of the building. When she came out, around 10:35 in the morning on July 19, she was approached by the police to take him to the precinct.

Meanwhile, prior to her arrest, the authorities learned that the suspect was apprehended for estafa on May 10, 2024, in Valenzuela City.

While the Northern Police District (NPD) Forensic Unit examines the found fetus's DNA and performs an autopsy, Daizy will have a gynecology examination.

A criminal complaint of Art 258 of RPC (Abortion Practiced By Woman Herself) will be filed against the suspect thru inquest proceedings before the Valenzuela City Prosecutor's Office.

On the other hand, the Local Government condemns these kinds of incidents in the city and hopes that such heartless acts will not happen again.
