A total of 381 Valenzuelano job-seekers who trooped down the City Hall Grounds to seek employment on the two-day Mega Jobs Fair held last June 24 and 25 were hired on the spot.

They were lucky enough to impress the 118 local and overseas employer companies and agencies pooled together by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).  The event is one of the numerous programs and projects for the last week of the outgoing Mayor Sherwin T. Gatchalian as Valenzuela City Chief Executive, dubbed as “Pasasalamat sa Siyam na Taong Patuloy na Serbisyo at Kaunlaran.”

Julianne Delgado, a resident of Malinta was one of those who were employed instantly. She will now be starting her new job as a Customer Service Representative for a BPO Company in Manila. “I am glad that the city provides services like this. It saved me so much time and money compared to the usual job hunting at other cities,” she said.

Meanwhile, over 2,004 applicants for local and 1,692 for overseas job placements are up for further interview.

Jobs Fair is a form of mediation by the city government between the employers and the job-seekers in order to fulfill job demands.  “We organize at least one every quarter of the year because companies are in constant need for good workers and people are in constant hunt for good companies to work for.” the outgoing mayor said.

“Jobs fair are established in order to have a linear point for appropriate matching of skills and qualifications within the requirements of the employers,” Valenzuela City PESO Manager, Luningning Martin said.

Martin further said that the number of people availing of these services increases through the years.  “They have become familiar with our mega jobs fairs that they look forward for the next ones to be slated,” she ended.
